Interactive video with decision points
A guided demo of the Manage It Easy association portal that plays on its own like a video, then stops at the moments that matter and hands you the controls. Nothing moves on until you make the click.
Sign in with admin / admin123, or wait a few seconds and the demo signs you in. It then plays on its own. Pause, go back or skip ahead with the controls at the bottom left, and take over whenever the prompt says Your turn.
Watch, decide, carry on
It plays like a video
The demo drives itself through the portal. A spotlight picks out one control at a time and a caption explains it, so it reads like a narrated walkthrough.
It stops for a decision
At 153 points it pauses and says Your turn. The prompt names what to do, and the demo waits until you click the right control.
You set the pace
Pause, step back or skip ahead at any time. Each of the fourteen modules can be opened on its own, so the demo doubles as reference later.
A walkthrough that waits for you
A normal training video asks nothing of the viewer, so it is easy to watch to the end and remember very little. Decision points change that. The walkthrough stops at the moments that matter and the learner has to act before it carries on.
This sample is built on Manage It Easy, an association management portal with fourteen modules, from dues and accounting to board voting and the resident portal. It is a big enough product that just watching someone click through it would not stick.
What the decision points do
- Pause the walkthrough at a fixed step, so nothing important plays past unnoticed
- Name the control to use, so the learner is never hunting blindly
- Wait for the correct click before moving on, so a step cannot be skimmed
- Dim everything else on screen, which removes the hardest part of a busy dashboard
Built as an interface, not a recording
Because the screens are rebuilt rather than filmed, the learner can click them, and a change to the product means editing one step rather than re-recording a whole video.
How it would be delivered
For a client it is published as SCORM or xAPI so the LMS records completion and each decision. We also build interactive video in Articulate Storyline over footage edited in Camtasia, when the starting point is a video you already have. It belongs to our custom e-learning development services.
